I am a child of the 80s.
I am a lawyer-in-waiting. Two years ago, I graduated from law school, I packed my bags and moved out of my beloved London to the north of England. I did this to pursue my career goal of becoming a qualified lawyer.
I am working worked my way out of debt in the latter part of 2009 and I talked a lot about that. I didn't have much of it (compared to other Personal Finance bloggers), but it was enough for me. I dented the finances a bit more by moving out, but eventually, everything came together.
My jounrey out of debt did not include noting down everything I spent or forcing myself to live off a certain amount. It was about getting th ebig picture - where the money was going and where it needed to be going. I appreciate that I need to save, but I also appreciate that I need to be happy. Happiness includes but is not limited to: taking vacations, going back to London regularly and shopping.
I have a passion for shopping and that doesn't help the bank balances stay liquid.
I am partial to hobbies and projects – I work hard at finishing what I start, though I don't always make it. I believe in goals and dreams. I have a 5-year plan to get to where I want to and, in its second year, things are going very well. Though we have had to reassess and adjust, the unaltered final objective remains attainable.
I know I am hard-headed, stubborn and often pernickety. I also know my attention-span needs work - it's a work-in-progress. I am a creature of habit so these days, I actively seek new experiences. The
