Somebody Come Get Me

I am about to say something to Spoiled that I will regret for a long time afterwards. This woman decided to undermine me to a client of mine.

Today, I had a bunch of deadlines to meet. So, for most of the morning, my phone was diverted to voicemail and I wasn't responding to any e-mails that weren't uber urgent. No lie, I didn't even get my expenses claim form in, and you know I don't play with my money. I'm focusing very hard on the task ahead of me and I hear Spoiled whooping it up in the client meeting room closest to my desk. Now, she has a loud laugh and is over-familiar with clients, so there nothing about the situation alarmed me.

As I was hurriedly eating my lunch in the staff canteen, one of the solicitors walks up to me and tells me they admire my handling of the situation as not many of the youg'uns would've been the bigger person. I smile blankly, resisting the urge to ask "what are you talking about?". The solicitor goes on to say, "everyone was shocked that Spoiled would say something like that to Mr. BigWig Client especially about you. I guess she wasn't thinking huh?" Now, my ears are burning and I really want to get to the bottom of this. I make my way back into the office looking as dazed as I felt. I asked Feisty what the heck was going on. She told me.

That heifer Spoiled, in front of two associates and a training partner, had said something along the lines of "Bless Whapibak, she is lovable but sometimes doesn't know what she is talking about. It's a good job you spoke to me." Excuse me??? Are you serious??? What is with the gratuitous bad mouthing to make yourself look more important? IS that how we operate these days? It’s not even like she did any work on the case. All she did was present him with a brief that I wrote last week and ask about his kids. I usually stay well away from office drama, but this irks me no end. That's it. I'm through defending that woman and bailing her ass out.

I’m pissed now, but I’ll get over it before the end of the day.
