Now, the only glitch left to iron out is how to detect people in its way. Minor really. lol

In my opinion, the million dollar question is:

how am I supposed to find my car in a multi-storey car park if I leave it to park itself?

Net Worth: September 2009 - what happened?

So, you probably noticed I didn't put out the usual comparison table and summary detailing how my finances did in the month of September.

That's because I have decided to switch it up a little bit. Though I still track my net worth, I shall cease to do so on a monthly basis. I will only do so quarterly going forward now. This is so I see more growth (and I have a longer period to achieve some goals).

I find that not a lot changes from month to month - I still contribute to my automatic savings vehicles, my long term investments don't usually see additions and my car still depreciates. I'm sure these things will stay the same. So, that's my latest news. Look out for the Q4 2009 net worth in December.

If Only...

If only these people that I work with didn't constantly try to make themselves look good by making others look bad.

I am working on the biggest and most high-profile case of my career. It started out as an average case, but things escalated when I went on holiday. I have had to make it a joint effort with two colleagues, just because there is so much work.

I didn't pick the colleagues – they were assigned based on availability. Proper completion of the case means a sizeable bonus for all of us. Naturally, as the matter was originally my sole responsibility, I’m heading the team. I know I'm young, but I do not play when it comes to my professional life. All of a sudden, developments which occurred during my vacation are mysteriously surfacing – I'm being partly briefed and important information is surfacing only when it makes one person in particular look good.

I am growing very weary of these tactics – defending oneself whilst blindfolded isn't fun and it is messing with my blood pressure. I'm working out a way to expose this thuggery from a factual and non-confrontational manner. That's difficult because the managing partner is a wimp and laps up my colleague's saccharine sweetness. At least when someone in South London tries to jack you, they look you in the eye and tell you so.

I Don't Know Where To Begin

Yesterday was an interesting evening.

I watched a questionable performance from Whitney Houston on UK television. Being her first live UK performance in 12 years, I thought she would kill it. From the beginning, I thought to myself, "she's on something" and the feeling only got stronger. Disappointed doesn't even begin to express how I feel. Then, a few minutes later, I received an e-mail from my cousin and I haven't been able to stop laughing since.

It's a news clipping from Ohio. Who knew the news could make you laugh so much...

Whilst Diana Martinez parked her car, she witnessed three gunmen running out of her building. One of the gunmen, Stephfon Bennett, stopped and at gunpoint took her handbag.

Later on that evening, whilst being consoled by family members, there was a knock on Diana's door. When she answered it, Bennett was standing there. Now I know what you are thinking - he brought her stuff back right?

Wrong. He was there to ask her out on a date.

A date.

After robbing her at gunpoint a few hours before. This idiot thought she would say yes to dinner and a movie with him?

I can't.

Ms. Martinez's relative called the police and Bennett was arrested infront of the building. His two friends remain at large - clearly they were the brains of the operation.

I Need A Project

All around me, people are doing great things and I am inspired.

• Friend #1 just took a six month sabbatical from work to go train at Le Cordon Bleu in France.
  
• Friend #2 is setting up her own company filling a niche in the sub-Saharan market.
  
• Friend #3 is learning a language and experiencing a new culture.
  
• Friend #4 just had a baby and is 110% committed to being the best mother she can be.
  
• Friend #5 quit his job with an investment bank to set up a socially responsible company.

So, what am I doing with my time? Nothing. I’m sitting in my home, wondering whether to watch reruns of a show I watch too often. I don’t have any identifiable interests. I’m not the sporty type so anything physically strenuous is out of the question. I want to give back and do something worthwhile and I want to develop a new skill.

I just haven't quite figured out what that skill / accomplishment is yet. I need help.

The Reason Is...

Hey blogfam!

 

How are ya? I'm back from vacation, trying to settle into my work routine. The trip was great – I had the chance to reconnect with friends and family. All I can say is, I know some great people.

A lot of things are going on in my office that need sorting out – I never thought I would leave Love Town, move north to where people are allegedly less harried and more genuine to experience this type of thuggery.

There is a post on workplace thuggery coming soon I promise, but for now, I need to give this case my undivided attention so I don't get shafted.
